Seamo – Continue [10th Single]

November 3, 2008 at 5:18 pm (Seamo) (, )

Seamo’s 10th single, entitled Continue, was released on 10.15.08. The title track was used as the theme song for the dorama Yume wo Kanaeru Zou.

Continue is a light-hearted pop song. The song begins with that ever popular instrumental sample and soon the instrumental becomes slightly more diverse when the first verse comes in. Seamo’s voice sounds very nice here and the slight pop/hip-hop sound that comes through sounds great but having that sample run through the entire song quickly becomes annoying. On the chorus, Seamo’s vocals become stronger so that the listener can enjoy them even more. Overall Continue is by no means a bad song but the everlasting sample really gets under the listener’s skin and not in a good way.

乾布摩擦 is the much better song. It features some traditional Japanese elements and Seamo’s vocals continue to be enjoyable. This song definitely should have been the single’s A-side since it shows a different side of Seamo’s music and catches the listener’s ear.

In order to promote the single, a PV for Continue was made. The video is very strange as it features Seamo running in a race wearing a strange costume. It’s very colorful and light but very very weird.

Single Ranking: B

乾布摩擦 really should have been the A-side since it’s far superior and shows a nice change from Seamo’s usual sound. Continue could have been really strong had the annoying sample not seem so prevalent throughout the entire song.
