alan – 幸せの鐘 [First Digital Single]

August 20, 2008 at 12:24 am (alan) (, )

alan’s first digital single, entitled 幸せの鐘, was released on 05.20.08. The profits from this single (as well as the Chinese version of the song released as a digital single as well) were donated to the Red Cross foundation in order to help the victims of the Sichuan Earthquake.

幸せの鐘 is a wonderful ballad. The song begins with a very natural instrumentation, highlighted by the sound of bells. Soon the piano comes in and alan sweetly sings the lyrics with a softness that immediately captures the listener. She strongly holds the note right before the chorus, allowing the listener to be lead into it smoothly. The guitar stands out here more strongly and alan continues to deliver fantastic vocals. The song finishes off with alan repeatedly holding her notes with sweet emotion, continuing to capture the song’s emotional atmosphere. Although the song is somewhat simple, it’s effective in communicating the song’s emotion.

Single Ranking: A

幸せの鐘 is a fantastic song that really shows off alan’s ability to emote over a beautiful instrumentation. Her vocals are touching, communicating her personal connection with the tragedy. The single is definitely for a good cause and she definitely entrances the listener.

I actually like the chinese version of the song slightly more than the japanese version .

I’m not sure why though , maybe because I’m chinese & that I can tell alan’s more comfortable in singing in her 1st language probably ?
