alan – 空唄 [4th Single]

August 11, 2008 at 5:09 pm (alan) (, )

alan’s 4th single and the 2nd single of five consecutive releases featuring the five elements, entitled 空唄, was released on 08.13.08. The element associated with this single is sky.

空唄 is a nice gem in alan’s discography thus far as she takes a more upbeat approach and incorporates an Indian sound that really stands out to the listener. The song starts off with a sweet instrumental with Indian influences and then alan delivers some great vocals that move with the music perfectly. The first verse begins and alan’s vocals show off some power very nicely. The chorus stands out as the energy picks up and the first line really hooks the listener as she sings “i can fly away.” Other English phrases such as “try again” and “i gotta fly away” help the chorus pop. Things take a more instresting change during the pure instrumental section where the music sounds very cool and “fly away” is echoed. Soon she begins to whisper and there is a certain element of mystery that really stands out. The entrancing 空唄 is certainly one of alan’s most memorable songs and necessary to check out.

My Stage serves as the single’s B-side. The song begins with an upbeat and very colorful instrumentation that immediately attracts the listener. Then the first verse comes in and alan delivers some great vocals to move with the music perfectly. The chorus really stands out as the instrumentation gives a smooth introduction into more enjoyable vocals from alan that keep the listener hooked. There is a real sleekness that comes out on the pure instrumentation section that nicely re-introduces the chorus. Closing the song is the very memorable instrumentation, which makes My Stage a fantastic song that could have served as the single’s A-side.

In order to promote the single, a PV for 空唄 was made. In order to fit with the theme of the single, the video communicates the emotions of the sky. Scenes from the video include alan walking on a bridge in the sky with an absolutely gorgeous view, moments of alan behind another great sky background and even some ethnic dancing from her and two other dancers. The PV is beautiful and really suits the song well, making another great video from alan.

Single Ranking: A +

alan’s 4th single definitely brings the element of sky strongly. The title track nicely picks up the tempo and the Indian influences that run through it make the listener follow from start to finish. My Stage also features an upbeat sound that twinkles in the listener’s heart and is very attention-grabbing. Both songs are fantastic and worth checking out.

if you don’t mind me asking, where do you find the singles you review, the day before they come out?
i’m just curious because you seem so fast in finding these singles…

well, for singles it’s usually the A-side + the B-side. Usually the A-side has a PV that airs sometime before the single comes out so that’s where I hear that and then the single usually leaks before the actual single is released so I go to imeem to listen. Since I don’t download, its a very nice streaming site.

basically I check imeem for when the music has leaked XD

Oh yeah, Sora Uta is made of awesomeness. As of now, it’s the second best A-side [after Ashita e no Sanka] and My Stage is just addictive that you can’t not love it 🙂

yup My Stage’s a really good B-side I must say . In fact it’s quite rare for an artiste to put out consistent good B-sides since their debut single

yep yep!!! alan just makes consistently strong overall singles from the A-side to the B-side to the PV to the covers…avex is really putting effort into her, which makes me happy 🙂

I love this single and all of her singles are reall consistent. I have yet to give her a grade not in the A range 0_0
