Hey! Say! JUMP – Your Seed / 冒険ライダー [3rd Single]

July 21, 2008 at 5:04 pm (Hey! Say! JUMP) (, )

Hey! Say! JUMP’s third single, entitled Your Seed / 冒険ライダー, was released on 07.23.08. Your Seed was used as the image song for the movie Kung Fu Panda.

Your Seed is a great dance song that the boys really shine on. The song starts off with a fun dance instrumentation followed by a “rap” part in which the lyrics are delivered very quickly and there is a certain slickness that makes them all the more enjoyable. The repetition of “believe yourself” really catches the listener’s ear strongly. Following the rap section is singing and the vocals are low enough to keep wth the music but show enough power to keep the listener interested. The chorus sounds great as the boys show a little more vocal strength, particularly on the final phrase, which is repeated. The pure instrumental section spotlights just how interesting the music is and shows off slight Arabian tints that are accentutated to bring out the song’s perfection. With the final chorus, the adlibbing was a nice touch as the vocal power is shown off very nicely. The song finishes off with another rap sequence and it’s one of the song’s strongest points so the decision to place it as the ending song was a wise one. Your Seed is an excellent song that shows off an interesting and creative instrumental, which the boys bring to life.

The other A-side is 冒険ライダー. A very interesting instrumentation starts off the song, taking the listener into the world of the song. There is a certain happiness element established from the music that the listener really connects with it. The first verse begins and there is a more mellow feeling and the boys bring some great vocals that compliment the music perfectly. The chorus picks up the energy a little more and certain phrases really stick out, such as the title of the song and the final phrase “let’s fly with sky rider,” which brings the chorus to a nice close. The small section of pure instrumentation shows off a nice guitar part that emphasizes the coolness of the song. Finishing off the song is pure instrumentation, rounding out the song as strong from its very first moment to its final one.

In order to promote the single, a PV for Your Seed. The video is pretty simple but very enjoyable as the boys are dressed in all black and show off some great dance moves. One move that stands out is during the chorus as the boys imitate climbing bamboo, which fits in with the set of the video. The boys dance with bamboo around them and an interestingly changing backdrop, which makes for a fun and enjoyable PV. Although simple, the boys look great in the PV and it’s definitely a great visual fit for the song.

Single Ranking: A +

Hey! Say! JUMP’s third single is a double A-side, featuring a set of two great songs. Your Seed shows off a more mature side of the boys, making it addictive and really capturing the listener’s ear. 冒険ライダー  is a more cool sound that holds a more mellow feeling, still maintaining that pop edge that the boys bring to life. Overall the single is excellent and signals a strong future for these boys.

This’s the 1st proper single that I heard/bought of the guys via the local HMV . Great stuff especially Your Seed❤

they’re coming back with a 4th single titled Mayonaka no Shadow Boy which’s going to be out next month on 22nd & I can’t wait for it . It’s supposedly their 1st love song , wow .

You can check it via http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=JACA-5119

Me too!! It’s the first one I heard and right then, I was like I gotta go back and buy the first two singles!
I CANNOT wait for the new single. The title sounds so dark. Honestly I was hoping for like a dark dance song or something but maybe the B-side will be kickass. I have faith in them though. But when the heck is the album. That’s 5 A-sides!!!

LOL . Mayonaka no Shadow Boy is their 1st love song according to CDJapan & they even mentioned it has Spanish influences too .

Wonder will this mean it will sound like Shuji to Akira’s Seishun Amigo & Yamapi’s Daite Senorita ? hmm..

Spanish influences are my official love because of NEWS – Ai no Matador. It’s true, just because it’s a love song it doesn’t have to be a ballad which I thought of first. If it’s anything like Ai no Matador, I will kill myself of happiness!! Except they’re younger than the boys of NEWS so we can’t have anything too sexual so a kind of cute sexualnesss works🙂

Daite Senorita friggin rocks so I would be happy if it ended up sounding lie that too!!!
