Kuraki Mai – 一秒ごとに Love for you [29th Single]

July 14, 2008 at 1:55 pm (Kuraki Mai) (, )

Kuraki Mai’s 29th single, entitled 一秒ごとに Love for you, was released on 07.09.08. The title track was used as the 23rd opening theme for the anime series Detective Conan.

一秒ごとに Love for you…The song begins with a cool instrumentation with pop tones with light rock influences. The first verse comes in and Mai delivers her lyrics with a certain slickness that works perfectly with the music. The chorus isn’t as powerful as hoped but it does show off Mai’s vocals as she hits the higher notes and shows a little more power. Following the chorus, Mai gives the lyrics with rapidity that makes it all the more enjoyable. The same cool instrumentation finishes off the song to give it that extra kick.

The B-side of the single is ずっと…, a more laidback pop song that is nice listening. The song sounds even better than the A-side and the chorus has a certain popiness that sounds great. It really takes the listener into a different world, making it an enjoyable experience. It’s a nice song and really would have been a better fit as the A-side of the single.

In order to promote the single, a PV for 一秒ごとに Love for you was made. The video is pretty simplistic as it features Mai singing the song with her back-up band as well as her sitting in a chair. Mai conveys her emotions so well as she sings along that it really does make the viewer forget how simple the video is. The video also features random waves, which capture the summertime atmosphere.

Single Ranking: B

Kuraki Mai’s 29th single features the fun summer A-side as well as the sweet pop B-side. Actually ずっと… is the strongest song on the single and should have been the A-side. The single isn’t anything mind-blowing  but it’s nice.
